hi there,
well I knew Perth was going to be hot but really!! and apparantly its only just begun!?
I was looking at last years stats and there were no days over 40 last year (in Jan) - we have been here since Oct and there have been at least 5 already with more to come!
any possibility of a twentysomething!?
not sure I'm going to get used to this and no, we don't have air con! but we do have use of a pool..

do I have to wait til April for twenties!?

Like a white Xmas in the UK a hot Xmas day in Perth is unusual, this year was not normal, mid 20's would be normal for Xmas day.
Air conditioning will cause colds and flu as you move from hot to cold to hot,a fan is usually excellent,or a drive in the car.Night time for sleeping is usually the worst as the bricks heat up all day and then give out the heat at night.
For 6-7 months of the year it is paradise (spring, autumn) temps of 25-32,the rest is crap, some days are too hot and winter is too cold.
The UK preoccupation with the sun is strange, can't wait to get to OZ for all that lovely sunshine, been on holiday to Spain so I can handle heat.Doesn't take long for them to get out of the sun...When friends come over for hols they ask advice ,I always say spring or autumn, they seem determined to come in summer, they want heat, they don't go home with a suntan..
After a while you get over it,then the winters seem to get colder and longer, but for those 6-7 months of blue skies and warm days, paradise.
Look out for some spectacular electrical storms if we have a week or two of hot weather, and an almost instant drop of 15-20 degrees in the temp. They are forecasting one for monday, usually they don't appear but when they do WOW.

Have you got doors open,if you do not have at least one door open then you are only blowing wet air into the house and it will feel hotter.
In humid weather only turn on the fan.My evap has been up on the roof for 21 yrs now and never missed a beat.
Turn on the pump first for a minute or two to wet the pads, then the fan.Do the reverse to close it down.Never use it in bush fire conditions ,suck an ember in and the fire will spread rapidly.

Daren has said there are holes in the pads. The straw does break down over time. It sounds as though you've been very lucky with yours.

There should be a small amount of water running down the outside of the pads.

It was working fine when first put it on, but as the pads got wet they started too drop and holes appeared in them.
Hopefully getting sorted and will be up and running again.

My hubby has been working 14 hours a day to keep on top of work. All the air-cons breaking down in this heat. Even works all weekend. He doesn't have any probs getting parts. Don't know why people are waiting weeks and weeks. Obviously going to the wrong guys
