Hi, im coming to Melbourne in 2 weeks but im flying into Sydney for a 4 days first.
Can anyone recommend a decent hostel? Is the Blue Parrot any good? Its on Macleay Street. Im travelling myself so a hostel is perfect.
I know this forum is for more serious stuff but if anyone can help that would be great
cheers

Hi Stu, sorry I can't help but I know a hostel was mentioned recently so search on Sydney hostel and you should find the thread. I think pompeyblonde was on it, so that should narrow it down.

I have stayed in a few in my time! Do you want to share or get a single room? If you're sharing go for the central YHA, fab hostel with great facilities, cafe, bar kitchens TV rooms etc... but single rooms a bit expensive.
there are som many to choose from and also depends if you want to be central, there are a few good ones in Kings Cross, haven't atyed at the blue parrot but it looks ok on the tinternet!

Wanderers on Kent Street is pretty decent, that's where I stayed and is behind the town hall (if i recall rightly). Quite a central location and not far from most places, including Darling Harbour. I just googled it and it may have changed to 'Nomads Wanderers on Kent', it's nothing outstandingly special, but had everything you'd need!
