Hong Kong Duty Free
Hi there!
Me and my partner fly to Melbourne on 15th April via Hong Kong.
Have been looking on the Hong Kong airport website for duty free perfume, but there are no prices on there.
Just wondering if anyone else on this forum has stopped there and if the prices for fragrances really are that much cheaper than here?
Thanks for any help!

Plus - HK Airport is notoriously expensive Duty Free wise - so much so they've just started a campaign 'same price as downtown' - but they chose the downtown shops and shops in HK are REALLY expensive !. Its the markets where everything is cheap.

On a completely different note, if you have a stopover in HK don't make the mistake we made just before we boarded our 11:45pm flight to Sydney, which was waiting in the initial departures section (that you walk into after going through passport control) for our flight to be called for boarding (this is what we tend to do in the UK).
Our 6 month old baby boy decided to show us the contents of his dinner again about 10 minutes before our flight was due to board (which in HK is normally no sooner than 15 minutes before take-off) and we ended up having to run all the way to the gate (and taking into account that all of the boarding gates are served by a monorail system, which you may end up waiting 10 minutes for) and we only made the plane because the HK Cathay staff were willing to hold on for 10 minutes. Never again. Go straight to your departure gate as they have coffee shops etc in each terminal gate section. Mind you, there were a fair few passengers who had seemed to make this mistake. I think that the real problem is that they don't warn you about the time it takes to get from customs to the departure gate.

Hi
Hong Kong has a chain of shops called Sassa which specialises in perfumes etc.. which provides some of HK's best prices for that kind of stuff. My wife (who's from Hong Kong) uses it in preference to duty free, which as other people have commented, is no great shakes.
