Default Emigrate 2006 show

Just wondered if anyone else if off to the show at Sandown this weekend. We thought we would give it a look on Sunday to see if we could pick up any useful info. Taking our youngest daughter to try and put her mind at ease a bit especially about schools and taking the cat!

If anyone has been before is there anything we should be aware of before we go. I have heard that there can be lots of people there so should we go early and get in the queue. We have got all our tickets sorted but any advice would be most welcome.

Cheers Ann

Trying to get out of going too lunch with some stuffy friends of the wife. If I can convince her we will also try going - its up near junction 10 of the M25 isnt it?
Will there be any employment advice outside of IT, Finance? ie Science related

Yes I think that's right its near Esher I believe. According to the details I've got there should be employment agencies there but quite what areas they will cover I'm not sure. Paul's an electrician so hopefully there will be some trade related ones to talk to.

Good luck on getting out of the lunch!

Hi Ann

There have been quite a few threads about this recently, think there are quite a few people going. We are heading over to it on Sunday, the feedback I have had is that they are worth attending with lots of people there to ask questions etc etc!!

Afternoon all!
Trying to decide if we should go - we have been to the "Opportunities Abroad" show that has been held at Sandown but not to the Emigrate show. Has anyone been to both and would they recommend the Emigrate show or is it pretty much the same as the opp abroad one?
Many thanks.

I just put this on another thread about the show.... thought would put it here to as some of you asking is it worth it!!

We went to the show today as husband had an unexpected day off, we were planning to go Sunday, my opinion and this is only my opinion, bit of a waste of time we thought anyway!!

We had a result as on the way in this bloke walked up to us and gave us free tickets so we didnt lose anything, but think we would of been a bit peeeeved if we had spent £20 to get in!!

Loads of stalls for properties in Spain and France and the rest of Europe, Loads of stalls for Canada and also New Zealand, but we were disapointed that Australia seemed to have less stalls!!

Lots of agents there, loads infact, we picked up information from all the major removals companies, and a couple of the financial guys, but in honesty no more information than if I had emailed or rung them for info. Only one job search company there, and he wanted £2500 minimum for finding a job in Oz, which we both thought was a little steeeeeeeep!! :scared:

But I would say show more for people not having assigned an agent yet, those stalls were busy, but for people like us just about to get the visa, not really worth the dosh!!

It wasnt very busy today (apparently one of the chaps said 9500 people went last year!!) either so it wasnt like everyone was rushed off their feet with people to talk to, some of the stall holders were a bit "couldnt be bothered" to talk to you attitude, we felt that anyway!!

Not trying to put anyone off going, but like I said purely my opinion, I wouldnt bother again!!
