Default Home buying

Hello,
We are just wondering if you can buy a home in Oz if you go across on a temp visa, looking to make it permanent?

Bloodfoot,

I have seen previous posts on this and am sure that there are restrictions as to what you can buy.

Do a search on the forum and I am sure that you will come up with lots of useful information.

We move next week into our new place. We have been here for nearly 3 months on a 457, and the only thing you need to apply for is FIRB permission (as well as mortgage etc )

IT took 4 weeks to come through for us, but you can apply online, upload the required docs, and just wait. It seems very rare for people to get turned down.

Here is the website : http://www.firb.gov.au/content/default.asp

We are in Vic, b ut I think the rules are all pretty much the same all over Oz.
