Default Holiday visas

My mother is always the bearer of good news and has just told me that my dad will never be allowed to visit us in Oz. She reckons that anyone over the age of 70 can't get an ETA without passing a medical - is this right ?

I can't seem to find any details on the net.

It says that you have to be in good health, but doesn't say that you have to have a medical if you are over 70.

Here's the link, it may be worth e-mailling them and asking http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/ETAAus5En.html

According to DIMIA form 1163i (attached)- if the visitor is over 70 there may be a requirement to undergo a chest xray.

As with most things chances are i am probably wrong so it would be worth checking out professionally too.

You need a medical for a Tourist Visa if you are over 70.

It doesn't say you need one for a ETA Visitor Visa. I don't know what the difference is though.

Ooooh, now I'm even more confused - what's the difference between a tourist visa and an ETA visitor visa ? I didn't even know there were two different ones

Ah, one is for 3 months and the other is for 12.

The 3 month one is an ETA and doesn't require a medical normally, the other 12 month one needs a medical if over 70

Have a look here to select the visa you want
