The state high school that covers Butler is Clarkson SHS. Mixed views on the school and the majority will express opinions (including me) without first hand experience. Check the http://www.myschool.edu.au/ website for the results, personally I think they speak for themselves. Secret Harbour I think has Comet Bay SHS. Don't know anything about that at all.

There is a new state school set to be built in Butler in the next couple of years. Other than that your choices are Clarkson or private. In the area there are a number of schools - Irene McCormack, Quinn's Baptist, Peter Moyes, Lake Joondalup Baptist and the brand spanking new Alkimos Baptist which is set to open in 2011.

We live in Butler and it's a very nice place to live. It's quiet which suits me just fine. Bear in mind that it's a very new suburb which means very little infrastructure. We have limited public transit, even more limited shopping and even less for kids to do. Over the next few years it is slated to be a lot bigger with construction of the shopping centres starting over the next year or so.

Secret Harbour is only 12km from Rockingham. Warnbro is even closer.

Catchment areas are normally pretty strict for state schools unless in a specialist programme, not sure you`d get in to a specialist programme at this time in the school year though. Comet Bay is the high school for Secret Harbour, some people love it others hate it. Contact the school ask if you can have a look around and see what you & the kids think. I have friends with kids there and they are doing fine, know another friend who put their kid into private after a short while at Comet Bay - everyone is different with different needs.
