We're at the 'waiting for a CO stage', we've sent in the visa app, so now we sit and wait
see my signature for timeline so far. Assessments are quicker now though, so you shouldn't have to wait too long

I'm a nurse and going by myself, my boyfriend was going to apply with me then got cold feet and told me it was oz or him, i had to follow my heart,i figured if i don't do it now it will be much harder in the future when i may have many more ties, so we split up today but this is what i've wanted for many years so i'm just going to go for it although it's all very daunting going out by myself but i'm sure i'll meet people pretty quick, it's melbourne i've decided to head to x

How brave are you? good on yer!!!!
CO stands for case officer, the person who will be dealing with our visa app.
There are 4 of us me, hubby and 2 kids. We're going on my hubby's skills, he's a mechanical engineer/fitter and I'm a hairdresser.
We are planning to go about this time next year, when our eldest has left school and had his results, so we're not in a rush as such!!!!
We're heading for the Gold Coast all being well!!!

Hi there,
Just reading and wanted to say "good on yer girl" you follow your heart. Thats what i did a few years ago when i first went to Aus on a Years working Visa and it was the best thing I did. Dont worry about going on your own, I did it and I made loads of friends pretty quickly.
As for now I am also hoping to head for Melbourne. Just had my Skills assessed by doing a CDR and have just sent my application off, so its all sit and wait now. We (Husband and Baby Twins) have applied for a 139 visa so fingers x.
Anyway thought Id say hi and hope everything goes okay for you.

Good on you for not allowing someone else to dictate your life.
You will meet lots of lovely people through this site, plenty of people in Melbourne too. I'm sure that once you get over here you'll be welcome to attend the meets that are arranged through the sites. Check out the meet up section, there may be one going on near where you are now.
Good luck with your application

Hi loulou
Doesn't seem like 5 minutes since we were in your situation, can't believe how the time flys really, you feel like at the moment you'll probably be waiting for an eternity but OMG does it creep up on you. We have been in Qld, Forest Lake area for almost 12 weeks now, we are originally from Streetly in Sutton Colfield, we have always lived in Birmingham. We had never been to Oz before just sold everything we owned and jumped on the plane and love it here, so much for the kids to do and so many beautiful places to see. At the moment we never want to leave here only to visit the UK to visit ALL of our family we left behind, we did'nt know a soul here when we landed :scared: . So best of luck to you and to all in process of emigrating it's great (up to now anyways)
