Hi we are back on line yet again, so far we have spent 3 weeks trying to get back on to some normality with the internet.
Well Tasmania is still one hell of a beautiful place, not regretting it a bit so far. We moved into our house on the 30th August, our furniture arrived undamaged on the 14th September and I must say PSS removals were excellent. Cannot compain with their service at all. My fridge and freezers even came without question, in fact the whole 40 foot consignment only took 2 days to clear customs. was well impressed. We have to pay 600 dollars for customs clearance, but we knew about that luckily before we came over.
We bought a house in a village called Lewisham, 25 minutes drive from Hobart in the South East. Our daughter absolutely loves it, she even loves her school, she is 11 and would not go back to England if she could help it. She has made some great friends and is never bored, in fact all the toys and comps, games etc. we have bought her, she has not even touched any of them, she is never in. The house we are in overlooks the bay and to be honest Tas is a cross between Canada and New Zealand, the people are great and so friendly, the place is so clean and fresh, but my only gripe is that there isnt that much work around, but to be honest we havent really started looking yet, just applied for the odd one or two, so cant really comment as such on the employment side of things. What I can say is that you have to physically do a driving test as well as a theory, its called a conversion, I actually passed so I was well chuffed but so nervous.
Well folks, ill be back as a regular now everything is up and running, keep smiling everyone, the dream will come true for you all real soon.

great to hear things are going so well. I guess if the kids are happy it makes it that bit easier for the rest of the family. Keep enjoying Tassie and good luck with the job hunting.

Hi there from a Yorkie to an ex Yorkie
I am pleased to here you are enjoying it, I am sure it makes it alot easier knowing your daughter is happy and adjusting really well to all the changes.
The weather here in York is freezing and raining, feels like the middle of winter not early October.
We hope to be in South Australia within a few months, got the visa yesterday.
What part of York were you in? we are in Wigginton.
All the best wishes for your new life and good luck with the job hunting.

Hi Christine and family,
I'm so glad you are enjoying it - I thought you sounded like you would fit in well in Tassie. I am SOOOO envious, but I will get back there one day, and hopefully catch up with you.
have you managed to see much of the island yet? And have you been up The Mountain? On a good day, that is a view to end all other views.
Also - if you are into flying at all - get in touch with the Aero Club of Southern Tas (based at Hobart) and do a pleasure flight over the south west - you can fly over all the forests and mountains, all the bits you can't get to on the ground, and its the most incredible feeling knowing that so much of that land os untouched by humans. Flying over any of the island is beautiful, but that one was probably the best flight for scenery that I have ever done.
Hope things keep going well - keep in touch
