My family and I are emmigrating to Oz on the 4th November this year (flights booked!!).

I am daunted at the thought of all the things to organise before we go and wondered if anybody could give me some guidance on how far in advance should we be doing things like arrange shipping, sort out a property to rent for when we arrive etc,

I am particularly interested in those who arranged their rental property in Oz from the UK. How far in advance did you start seriously looking and what agents did you use.

Any help appreciated.

Hop ei can be of some help. I am going to Sydney in June this year to live, I have rang several shipping companies and they have told me to book it at least 6 weeks in advance, and to confirm it 1 week before, this does depend on whether you are having a full container or half, obviously if your only having half a container they have to wait to fill the other half before they will send it. As for houses, I have email a few estate agents and they have told me to come back when in Oz, so you may have to wait until ur there. Im lucky I can do this as I will staying at work for as long as necessary till i find somewhere to rent, but if you dont have this available to you you should email them approx 2 weeks before you want to start renting, you will have to pay the deposit/bond by credit card but u should be ok.
