Hi me and my husband are looking at starting our visa application this June with the hope to move out to oz summer 2010, we are going to apply for GSM visa, we have done the points test online and have enough points with my husband being the primary applicant as he is a secondary school teacher of PE, however there doesnt seem to be many jobs about, does anyone know any good teacher job websites?
Also I am a nursery nurse with NVQ3 and by next year I will have a foundation degree in early childhood studies, have looked around lots of websites but still dont really know what kind of jobs i could apply for and if i need to change my qualifications over?
Would i be able to do my top up degree in oz aswell?
Sorry for all the questions but dont really know where to start!!

I posted re PE on a thread a few weeks a go. I have a friend who is working in PE in Perth. He said that some states, NSW being one where you you have to do a four week course costing £1000 to train to teach Health Ed as well. This was even though he has also taught A-level ppsychologyand PSHE in the UK for 12 years in addition to PE. I believe also that you will probably have to work 'rural' for a couple of years if you go to QLD.

My friend chose the private sector as he says they are keen on recruiting UK teachers.

He is loving teaching in Australia.

you say that the private sector is recruiting teachers. do u know if they sponsor overseas teachers please? Do not have enough points for any other route.

Hi,
Not sure where you want to be in Australia but NT do a scheme whereby you can try out teaching there. If you are an overseas applicant you have to commit to a two term placement but they do assist with expenses etc from what I have seen. I have had my qualifications assessed in NSW and SA too, all of which have been really helpful when I asked questions via email.
Once my OH has his Spouse Visa approved (fingers crossed) we will be on our way to Australia, although not sure exactly where we will end up! Lou x
