Default Help please with Science Teaching qualifications

I am a little frustrated and need some advise please.

I am a qualified Science Teacher with 11 years teaching experience. I have a Biology degree and have taught all 3 subjects to GCSE in the UK. I have arrived in Australia on my 176 Visa based on my teaching qualification. I have just applied to NSW education board and the Institute of NSW teachers. The institute have replied to me that I have provisional accreditation BASED ON COMPLETION OF 2 DEGREE UNITS IN CHEMISTRY OR PHYSICS! Has anyone else done this? I can't believe they want me in the country then tell me I have to study more.

Please let me know anyone else who has had to do this?

Thanks
