hi all,
pretty sure someone on here will know this but, what are the import costs for getting a car to aus from the uk.
have been looking at car prices over in the uk and what you get is a great deal, but i know there's gonna be a catch with the import duty
thnx in advance if anyone has an idea

Re: help with importing a car
You have to have owned the car in the UK for at least 12 months to import it.
I also think that if you live in OZ already, you cant just buy one over there and ship it here a year later..

You need to have owned it 12months (and have proof of insurance, maintenance etc.) and be moving back to Australia. This is allowed once every 5 years.
or
It is a pre 1989 car.
or
It is on the SEVS list and you have a compliance document (if it hasn't a compliance doc you need to create one, it adds about $100k to the cost).
So if you'd like a classic 911, Esprit or a 348. It can be done.
