Unhappy Help-again!!-clueless.

Just realised how clueless I am. Got the job offer but nothing else. How thick is this- haven't got a British passport, haven't registered my nursing in south australia, haven't got a clue which visa I'm supposed to apply for. So far I'm registered with a nursing agency (through which the job is offered), filled in some info sent by agency such as assessment of qualification form and registration form for SA but haven't got money till end of month to fund certified copies/fess and payement to my registering board till end of month, filled in medical health questionairre-not sent back yet or is this for the doctor at medical? haven't got one for husband and child. They sent me nomination application 1196 requirements form but I don't know what part it plays in my visa-is it the visa application or just info for applying for a visa application? I've sent my CRB check form back to the agency but haven't sent any money-they didn't specify that I should. I was under the impression that I would be guided through the whole process by the agency, maybe that is right and I'm just panicking cos they want me t start so soon and I have just finished a night shift so a bit cream crackered. It's obvious from everything I've read on this site that things aren't going to be easy but God if I'm worrying now what am I going to be like when the ball really starts rollin? I'm not getting stressed but I'm the type of person who needs structure and clarity so I know exactly what I'm doing. Please help :scared: tiredly scanny

Hi there,
I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help at all, but, I would post this question in the immigration forum....there's a few agents that post in there that are very knowledgeable, oh, and I'd definitely apply for a passport!

Good luck sorting it all out...it's not too bad once you get started.

Many congrats on getting the job - bet it was those comfy shoes that did it Well done!!

Don't panic, you are tired & in need of a large G&T, hot bath, good night's sleep. I'm sure the agency will get you sorted with all the paperwork (after all, it's in their interest to do so ).

Just think - you are on your way to Oz!!

Cheers,
Anya.

Hiya,
Just relax and take a deep breath, remembering to let it out once you have turned blue. Sending you some karma to help you chill. Best wishes.

It sounds like you are being invited to apply for a long term temporary visa under subclass number 457. A word (or more) of caution: this visa only allows you to work for the sponsoring employer: if things don't work out you will either have to find another sponsoring employer within a matter of weeks (which will necessitate lodging a new visa application), or to depart Australia. As such you might be better served by looking at a permanent residency visa, which gives you the freedom to decide who you work for, and where in Australia you work.

You might also run the 457 application and a permanent residency visa application in parallel - see also:
http://www.gomatilda.com/visas/faqs.cfm#04

I'd recommend discussing your visa options and how the whole process works with a migration agent ... if you want a freebie initial chat with one of my colleagues you should feel able to call UK number 023 80 488777, and to ask for Marina Towner.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

A further note to say that if possible I would try to obtain a permanent employer sponsored visa. In SA this would be possible via what is called the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme.

Information about the RSMS and the 457 visa is discussed here:
http://www.immi.gov.au/work/sponsored_skilled.htm

As a nurse you have choice on your side ...

Best regards.

Get professional migration advice anyway. The agency is not the place to obtain this!

You could always PM some of the other members who have a range of 'interesting' stories to tell about the problems they encountered on temporary visas. You could try searching for the posts of 'glittababe' or try a private message.

By your own admission you are completely confused about visas and how Australia migration works - if you try a DIY approach your risk of ending up in a total mess in Australia is high.

Thanks Jeremy am almost convinced to start permanent residency visa alongside or instead of this ENS as don't have a lot of confidence at the moment with the set up. No official job offer on paper or claryfication of wage - said they are getting round to it but very slow. However I was called on fri afternoon to say there was a query with a disclosure of back problem and they would send me a form to take to a local GP for medical - the letter for this came on sat morning-amazing eh! I have a couple of good books on the emigration process now, the only thing I can't find any definate info on is what happens with my hubby with pr - he doesn't have any qualifications at all so is he included on my pr visa? I can fulfill all the criteria. Thanks for your help and patience. Scanny.

HI Trish poor you nights, start back on mine on monday. The agency I was refering to is a nursing agency (or did you realise that?) thanks for the encouragement. I have been offered my flights payed-split and reimbursed at 6+12 months and 4wks accomodation payed for and application for permanent residency at 8 months in. Getting a bit edgy cos all the professionals warning against ENS-trig to sort it all out. Migration agencies seem o.k but on a tight budget and sometimes you have to pay to avoid a costly mistake later but if you haven't got it you haven't got it! Thanks again Scanny
