Heading for Adelaide, Help needed
#1
We're moving to Adelaide after 7 months in Melbourne, Can anyone suggest some nice areas/suburbs for us, 30-40 mins from the city would probably be ideal, with rental prices somewhere in the region of $200-£300 a week.

There's loads in both directions. $200 - 300 per week will get you quite a bit both sides.
Can you give a bit more info on what you need/like? What sort of jobs do you have as that can make a big difference in North/South, for example if one of you is likely to be looking for factory work then North is better as it would be less travelling time.
There's good suburbs both sides, with some not so nice on both sides as well.

Coming from Adelaide, the hills are in the east
When you are driving and the hills are in front of you then you are driving east. If the hills are on your right you are driving north. On your left you are driving south. The hills are behind you, you are travelling west

I'm a woman, I have no sense of direction

I really, really miss Adelaide
...it was my home for 31 years and then I came to Perth to be with my partner. After nearly four years I still can't find my way around
...it's okay but Adelaide will always be home
...I lived in Willunga but I miss everything about SA...and the hills are just beautiful

Thanks Ladybird, some good info ( i've bookmarked and will be registering!), Seans visiting Adelaide next week to look at a few properties, at least he has something to go on now
Wendy, I'm a nurse, not sure yet where i'll work, perhaps district nursing but we'll have to see, Sean does factory work, but is hoping to find something else, though he hasnt a clue what he wants to do!! and they say women are indecisive
Vin 'n Bin, Im easily confused, but we bought sat nav when we first arrived, just hope it works in the valleys

My hubby said the same when we first got here, he's now working in a factory!. I think he just said that so that I wouldn't make him go looking for work in the first week
SatNav works fine here, so no worries there. I just hope you're not like my hubby who got lost when he first used it
I'm sure everything will work out just fine for you.

Blackwood/Belair/Eden Hills/Coromandel Valley - suburban hills but on the dear side
Hallett Cove - nice mix, good coastal location, probably not bad rentwise
Flagstaff Hill - nice but larger hills suburb but still near South Road so handy but probably reasonable to rent there
Woodcroft / Morphett Vale - have a drive round. Some great areas and dirt cheap and handy for facilities, but a bit mixed so avoid some parts. Don't rush in - ask around
Port Noarlunga/Moana/Seaford Rise - great coastal / beach suburbs, that bit further out but probably still reasonable and lots to choose from
McLaren Vale/Willunga - about an hour from the CBD but great for open space, the wineries, the hills and the beaches. This is where I live. I work in town and commute an hour each way and it's a piece of piss. Buses, trains and petrol are so cheap. It's quieter down here but we love it.
Port Willunga - absolute gem location right on the best beach in the south. Don't tell anyone!!!!
Good luck
