Has the exchange rate gone up ?...IT IS NOW
Commonwealth bank rate today was 2.3565
OK all you financial wizards.......what's behind it and could it be a trend UP

As far as i know yes it has our broker today offered me 2.365 higher than that stated and he was on the understanding it was going up again and also the oz intrest rate was going up to so if we had some money to invest before we get over now would be a good time to do it.
On the flip side if you are about to take a morgage out in oz the intrest rate will be heavy on the repayments at the moment.

Which currency broker are you using please as we are just about to try and transfer a lot of pounds to aus. ?

It is LIKELY to go up to about $2.40, But if intrest rates go up in oz it is more LIKELY to drop. There are so many things that effect exchange rates, it's just pot luck if you buy at the peak.
If you register with Moneycorp the will send you a weekly email on advise and how they feel which way the market will go over the following week or so.

This is what my Tranzfers newsletter said about it yesterday.
The Aussie has trended sideways this week, failing to hold onto to gains made earlier in the week against the Sterling. The Aussie strengthened due to comments from the Reserve Bank Chairman Ian MacFarlane, stating that the next move from the RBA regarding interest rates was more than likely to be higher. This came as a surprise to many in the market who anticipated that the RBA may have finished this tightening cycle and would be possibly lowering rates should growth slow. The AUD/GBP rate reached highs of 0.4265 (2.3447) on the back of this news but was unable to sustain the momentum and eventually ceded ground to the GBP to be currently changing hands at 0.4225 (2.3669).
