Default HELP gas cookers

just packing stuff and had a thought are gas appliances as common in oz as here is it worth taking our nearly new gas cooker or not.

Gas cookers are certainly not unusual but electric are a bit more common at least here in Brisbane. Problem is that most houses will already have a cooker (cookers stay with the house here) & unless you buy a house that specifically has a gas cooker, it would be a pain to have to convert from electric to gas. If you are specifically considering buying a house that will need renovating then it might be worthwhile.


Brisbane only has mains gas on the southside, in the places where there is no mains gas you will be supplied with bottled gas. No real problem with that, the only difference if you will need to make a simple phone call every couple of months to order a new cylinder.

Also depends on where you are headed to - Melb has much more gas than say, Brisbane. (Bordy's been eating beans again I think ).
