Default Has anyone got rose tinted glasses

There is always a lot of talk about people coming over to Oz with the idea that everything is going to be rosy and wonderful. Were all going to have big houses and 4 wheel drives and barbies on the beach. Now some of us may get this and some of us won't.

We are going because;

1) My wife has spent a lot of time out there and has always loved it.
2) I cannot face the mundane 9-5 existence that my life offers me without experiencing a bit more of the world. Don't get me wrong I know I will have to work when I get there.
3) We live in a part of the world where we are fortunate enough that we can go.

We have speant a LOT of time looking into this and can see the pluses and minuses. My mother was a hospice nurse and saw a lot of people dying very young and she said to me that "take the chances as you find them as life is short and you have to live it."

Just to underline it

Is anyone coming over here thinking life will be great and you won't have any problems over here?

Hopefully this forum has given enough realism to the debate that there won't be people looking on with rose tinted glasses. Then again who would say they are looking at Oz with a false impression.

hi

i certainly am not comming over thinking there won't be any probs, but to be honest life for me and my family has been none stop probs for many years, the difference in oz will be that we will will have a chance to restart and hopefully learn from a lot of the mistakes we have made in this country. For example selling my home will allow us to pay off all our debts in uk and we will still have enough for a good start in oz and the kids will hopefully be out and about more instead of stuck infront of tv or pc! I work as a social worker in uk (child protection) my hubby specialises in working in youth crime, we are heading to perth and from what i have heard we will still be very busy!

cheers
