Its Adelaide we are going to too, my sister has lived there for 8 years and this is our way of getting there as my hisband has no trade and I used to work as a project administrator 5 years ago but you need 2 out of that last 3 years experience,

Can't wait and good luck, let me know if you want the email for health operations in sydney,

Hi Sharon about your offer for the email address for HOC I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Sorry to bring back such an old thread,

Our Son has Global Developmental delay, his med has been passed for furher assesssment and we will be asked for further medical exam, as yet we dont know what this is and have emailed to request information.

While we wait though has anyone had this with their child with learning problems?

We are assuming they would want reports from any specialists, GP etc?

Any info would be good jst to stop the OH panicing

Our son has mild cerebral palsy and autism (Asperger's). We worried ourselves silly when we applied for the Visa's. We decided that if we didn't try we would never know and we needed those answers. We got our Visa's 7 weeks later and have now been living in Sydney for 8 months. It was a tough time waiting for our medicals to come back but we had the attitude if it was a no, then we could always say we tried and not every wonder what if?

Eve,
I am assuming that you did not submit a specialist report with your meds originally? We submitted reports for both boys from their psychiatrist & for my youngest who has some physical problems, we also had an OT report. It was all very positive & we were not referred for further assessment.
Hopefully they are just after report from a specialist.
Try not to stress hon!

Thank you for your replies,

We did include our sons latest educational statement which outlines future educational needs. He doesn't have a paediatrition and has no medical requirements.

The only pschologist we have had dealings with is the educational pschologist and then only see her at review meetings once a year.

Some of his problems are due to educational neglect by his birth mother but I am not sure that anyone would climb off the fence to report this.

He doesn't require any medical intervention, has a reading age of about 6-8 at 14yrs and attends a special unit as he would struggle to keep up with mainstream, allthough if you met him you wouldn't neccessarily know he hadlearning difficulties. Work was discussed at his last review and was agreed that there would be no reason why he could not eventually get himself a job. We have being playing catch up with his education since he came to live with us a couple of us years ago.

thanks again

That sounds very positive Eve & I am sure that they will just want a report from the psychologist saying just that.
Let us know how you get on.

aha got some info,

The agent has forwarded email from Australia what they want is:

Current assessment from Developmental Psychologist regarding cognitive and developmental status.

Full report addressing history, physical exam findings, diagnosis, full details of psychological testing, IQ assessment.

Indication of ability to perform activites of daily living.

and the report has to address the need for special schooling and prognosis for independent living and future employment in adulthood.

sounds all very complicated but I assume that these sort of reports should really have been the norm for a child like ours!

I have emailed our panel Doc so just have to wait for an appointment.

On the med form the doc has to tick a box for: intelligence - normal or abnormal and he got the kids to read a couple of lines, I had to tell him that our son is in a special needs unit, he asked for his school report and that has led to the further info being wanted.

Maybe that is a new thing as we never anything like that. Do you have anything like a WISC IV score that you could show?
