Hi

Which form of Dyspraxia does your child have?

Have you been turned down, or are you just worried?

Hi

Our eldest daughter(14) has dyspraxia and Aspergers. We are getting letters from her educational psycologist, her Communication Centre teacher and her doctor giving details of the help she requires at school/home.

We have been lucky as since she started in the Communication Centre she has come on leaps and bounds and is now fully integrated in mainstream schooling (1500 pupils) with no support. She uses the centre as a base and checks in throughout the day to let them know she is ok. In fact she is getting an special award from the school because of her improvement. She is academically bright but struggles with social skills.

We're hoping this will be sufficient. I suppose it depends how badly your child is affected and the kind of support they need on a day to day basis.

Good Luck

Hi

I have just posted the reports from the OT/ PEADIATRITION and have previuosly sent reports from the SCHOOL/PSYCHOLOGY REPORT,to our migration agent in OZ.So I hope that will be enough info for them.

My boy(14) is presently in High School and is in mainstream Ed although he does struggle with the recording of work and the social aspect of school life a little.
He is quite able to cater for his own needs but like any other young person of his age needs to be reminded from time to time to carry out tasks IE the Dreaded homework
He loves sport and will take part in as much as he can to the best of his ability.

Your child sounds as if she is flourishing GOOD on her Life is hard enough without coping with Dyspraxia All the best C

Let me know how you get on as their problems seem quite similar. I'm hopeful that if they're not going to be a drain on resources they'll pass the medical ok.

Try not to worry!
Both my sons have ADHD. They are in mainstream school & only the youngest has any extra support. They are both on meds at the mo too!
We had lovely positive reports from the psychiatrist & passed meds with no probs.
There are people who have gone through with more severe problems so really do try to chill!
Have sent you some karma & wish you luck.

Re: Has anyone been turned down for a vias due to their child having Dyspraxia ?

Hi, my daughter has spina bifida occulta. She goes to mainstream school, it is a physical thing with Elise. She wears an orthosis (splint) on her left foot, she self catheterises 4 hourly and has had 2 major spinal operations. She has also had a foot correction op. She has been fine and not been in hospital for the last 3 years.

We applied for a student visa and the meds were sent to sydney but they passed, the health operation centre in sydney have also told us that her condition will not stop us from getting PR when we apply.

The doctor who done our meds told us beforehand to take reports from all specialists with us and we did. We made appts for all 3 of her doctors a month before the medicals and the reports the doctor said could not be better.

We were really concerned that her condition would stop us from getting to Oz but we thought we would try anyway. If we didnt we would never have got in, albeit on a student visa to start with but we will get PR eventually,

I have chrones disease too and have had 3 major bowel ops, although the last was in 1995 but my medical was sent to sydney too and also passed.

You will never know unless you try,

Good luck

Sharon

Hi, I know, its not up to them all you can do is try, we wouldnt be getting ready to go in august if we hadn't,

Its up to sydney who do the medicals not them, you could try emailing them direct, I did before we applied and was told her condition would not stop us and it didn't,

Its Adelaide we are going to too, my sister has lived there for 8 years and this is our way of getting there as my hisband has no trade and I used to work as a project administrator 5 years ago but you need 2 out of that last 3 years experience,

Can't wait and good luck, let me know if you want the email for health operations in sydney,

Sharon
