Default Hairdresser moving to Australia

Just joined this,

I'm a 24 year old hairdresser from London looking at moving to Australia, I have no visa problems as have a New Zealand passport. Looking for information on how to go about moving from London and finding a job there. I have worked in central London salons for 4 years. Would it be advisable to move to Australia? And which area would be the best.

D

Default Which city?

Where would people advise me to move to in Australia?

I'm looking at moving to oz sometime soon, I have never been before but have a New Zealand passport and see moving there as a great opportunity as I am a hairdresser so can move anywhere English speaking.

I have some Australian clients that say I would love it there and all recommend different cities, so unsure of where to move to. I live in London so used to big cities, but how do Australian cities compare, and where would a homosexual 24 year old hairdresser best be suited?

You'd need to research each city to see which one most closely matches what you're looking for. For a 'big city' feel, I'd say Sydney, but compared with London it's small. Melbourne has a reputation for being more arty, Perth is an urban sprawl with a very small city centre. Don't know enough about the other cities to comment. Your sexual orientation is irrelevent in terms of getting a job or opening your own business. All the cities I've mentioned have an active gay scene, and probably the others as well. If you end up in Perth the Court hotel is fantastic, but unless you're into the underbelly of the gay scene (think drugs and casual sex in the toilets), stay away from Connections, known locally as Connie's. Good luck

Thank you,i was thinking of those three cities as from reading they seem to be best candidates, I don't mind if they're smaller then London as I'm getting bored of living somewhere so vast. And I wouldn't consider myself in the 'underbelly' that was for teenage years.

Probably best to have a think about what's important to you in terms of where you live, and do a search of the city/ies on this forum, or you could post a new thread specifically to ask for suggestions of cities to live, based on 'xyz' (your preferred critera) - you'll get heaps of opinions
