PS Our agent was Ian Harrop and Associates. Couldn't fault them. Very good.

I must admit it did help having an agent when I was going through my TRA assesment. I am applying on an Indepdent Skilled 136 and the agent advised me to get as much detail and information as possible. Some things I would never of thought of if I had done it DIY. With working and having kids driving me up the wall I opted for the agent to save hassle, mind you I have had stress through it all. I had my first assesment declined and paniced, I contacted the TRA, lovely guy there told me exactly what the problem was, I sorted it ( with an appeal form and more money!) and eventually had it passed! Phew
I have now sent the application form away for DIMIA, so its fingers crossed now. I am sure if you search the threads for agents you will find some useful information.

Good luck

Deb

Hi Debbie,
On the DIMIA web site there is a list of names and addresses for who assesses each trade. Have tried to find the exact bit for you but can't see it. My trade was assessed by NOOSR, there are a whole host of others. Good luck.

Those agent fees sound outrageous ! I can't see how there can be such a huge difference in prices for agents. Ours is a set price for Skilled Aus. Spons. application. Costs will be as follows :

Agent £987 + vat
TRA £224 (includes bank charge for draft in $)
Visa approx. £750
Medicals inc. xrays £355 (2 x adults and 1 x 1 year old)
Police checks £20

Total £2508

Hope this helps all those looking for agents at the moment.

Best regards,

Jo ;)

NOOSR does not assess trades, only teachers.
NOOSR asssess post secondary qualifications, but this is not a skills assessment for migration purposes.

If you want to know which body assesses your particular occupation, assuming that it is on the migration Skilled Occupation List, email me and I will tell you.

Do not take this as professional advice about which occupation you should nominate in a visa application, only information about which body assess the occupation you propose to nominate.

You can find my email address at www.pinoyau.com

Dear Jo

Every case is different and you get what you pay for, or sometimes you pay for what you get. Every case case is different and it is unreasonable to assert that a particular professional fee is excessive, if you do not know the details of the case. For examples; in some cases two skills assessments are needed to get points for spouse skills, overseas clients who pay an agent in Australia do not have to pay the 10% Goods and Services Tax (VAT), the complexity of cases varies enormously and so on. You have obviously paid the TRA priority processing fee and the amount you have paid overall seems to be reasonable.

Best wishes
