IT wise, the Brisbane market is quite slow. Specific areas of IT might be stronger (I'm a .NET developer, and compared to Sydney / Melbourne the market is non existent). Teaching wise, it all seems to be more of a personal approach required to find work. We dropped CV's and went in person to more than 20 schools. It paid off, a 2 hour trial turned into full time teacher aide work. We are hoping that she can now register for tracer (the local supply work system) to hopefully find more work as a teacher rather than teacher aide.
Thanks Paul. I don't know if you saw my other messages but I was offered a job last night, which I have accepted. I had a Skype interview with them and they called me back with the offer so now it is just Mr PG to find a job. He is sprucing up his CV and is going to be firing on all cylinders asap. He's probably going to stay home initially and settle the kids into school before looking for work.

WOW!!! BIG CONGRATULATIONS

Hope you settle in quickly Pinkgal. No matter how hard it gets, give it time, and it will all be good I'm sure.

We used to get homesick for NZ, but now we never look back, only forward. We know we are in a better place for our family.

GOOD LUCK!!

Congratulations! What type of IT work does Mr PG do? The company I work for is growing so there might be some openings there when he looks for work. They tend to hire privately as they hate recruitment companies!

We really enjoy Brisbane. We are currently back in the UK visiting relatives and it's made me realise just how different life is there!

Thankyou. He's a Senior Product Manager and worked for one of NZs biggest IT companies for 5 and a half years before taking voluntary redundancy last year. We hate recruitment companies too

Sorry to jump in on this thread Paul2412, but do you know if the company you work for is likely to be looking for programmers? My OH is currently looking for something new, and as you said previously programming work is not so easy to come by in Brisbane (NB think he does C# / .net).
