None - they are all shite

The water is also rubbish, so the combination of both is a disaster really

I miss Bold as well - and the lovely fresh air smell you got in your clothes back home. Not sure about anywhere else, but here in QLD clothes smell damp if left out too long, and they can't be left in the machine for any lengh of time either after washing. Try using the Aldi softner Anco soft iron easy (2 litre bottle) - the white one seems to be better than the purple :eek:

ALso, add the pink Vanish stain remover to every wash.

We use Persil for sensitive skin. Add Vanish Napisan to every wash. And use the blue bottle Cuddly softener.

Clothes are dried outside nearly all year round (not in a dryer).

All our clothes smell lovely and fresh.

But we live in Perth not Queensland, i.e. low humidity.

I use OMO which is supposed to be Persil with a cap of napisan. I also use Woolies conditioner. Have ran out so can't check the name but they are the essential oils ones which remind me of comfort.

Re: good smelling washing powder

I use Cold Power and Coles own Fabric conditioner. I use the ultra sensitive.

I recently gave some clothes away to our neighbour as they were too small for my dd and apparently one of the children commented how lovely the clothes smelt.

Used Omo (Persil) Sensitive when we first arrived but have switched to Earth Choice. It cleans well and the max temp I use is 30C. I've never used fabric softeners.

(In fact all my household cleaning products are Earth Choice, and they smell great.)

Ive made it my mission to find a nice washing powder and fab conditioner. I am currently using Aldi Anco soft ultra Jasmine & Ylang Ylang $2.29 for 500ml. By far the smelliest I have used. I use Cold Power too and always line dry.

Jen - When we unpacked our bedlinen/towels etc after 3 months of being cooped up in the container the 1st thing I noticed too was the gorgeous smell, hmmm:)

We use Duo and Cuddly softner, our washing smells nice!:)

Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the rinse. That way you'll come up smelling of gum trees instead of roses.

I brought back 2 bottles of persil ( purple and white bottle ) the scent is wonderful, I ration it out:lol: first on my sheets now on my smalls as there is very little left:(

I was actually thinking of paying 2 grand to fly to UK just to buy products I love:wub: Parnter thinks I am insane:lol:

Re: good smelling washing powder

I started out with Omo Sensitive (but found the powder seemed to get clumped up in the drawer for some reason). I use Purity Sensitive liquid and a bit of napisan in each wash. I really notice the nicer Purity smell when I hang the washing out. I love Australian weather - almost every day is great for line dried clothes (and the sun does wonders for bleaching out toddler food stains) :D

Earth Choice for me too, use the washing liquid and softener. Great for sensitive skins too.

The new BioZet smells really nice, cleans well and is good for sensitive skins. One of the British shops here sells Lenor, so I use a small amount for clothes and they smell great.

My water isn't rubbish ... from sky to tap via roof, gutter and the odd dead possum (and a few thousand mosquitoes) ... it's good for you.

Sorry i dont live in Oz but have been reading the threads here.
I have just started doing this
http://www.gaia-exchange.sunmaia.net/laundrygloop.htm.
I used a old bar of Sunlight washing soap and essential oils and soda . It smells nice and washes really good.
Oh you can use white vinegar instead of fabric conditioner. Lots of people swear by vinegar but in my machine i didnt think it was any good.

Save your dripping and other rendered fat and make your own soap (lye = sodium hydroxide):

Pop the monocle in the ocular, me lud, and cast a beady over step three:

Step 3

Fat type 2: Refuse fats like bacon grease and used frying lard.

This fat needs to be washed before use. Bring to a boil an equal amount of water with the fat. Remove from the heat and add 1 quart water to one gallon water/fat mixture. Clean fat will come to the top. Scrape away the clean fat from the top and wash again if the fat was rancid or there are any particles left.

However, for those preferring fish with their chip fragrance; add blended anchovies in lieu of step 3. A cheaper substitute is a modest quantity of fish sauce.
