As an Aussie (well, as anyone really) it's so nice to see these hackneyed, purportedly innocuous phrases such as 'flood of Asians' treated with the contempt they deserve. Good onya cobbers

Perhaps the ability to live in an increasingly multi racial nation should be part of the application procedure?
Little point those whom are going to be somehow offended by racial diversity to torment themselves let alone others by moving to Australia.
At the end of the day Australia remains culturally still very Anglo Saxon. Very odd how anyone would be offended by the racial diversity as mentioned.

Does that me Im not welcome? Im a British born (hence im a British Citizen) from Bengladeshi parents.
Just to make clear im not coming over to flood the country. Im only coming over for a year long working holiday. Unless my hard earn British Pounds (approx £40000) not worthy to be spent in Australia?
If so I'll cancel my flight ticket. I was planning to fly over on the 5th August.

I'm confused now, are we talking about what Brits call Asians (insert 'they're not Asian' rant by Mrs TB
) or t'other type (insert
of approval by Mrs TB).
It's a minefield at Chez TB when we're in the UK

We are three months away from heading back to the UK after four years in South Australia.
Came out on a 457 sub class visa and have decided not to extend as my wife wants to be nearer the family.
We have had a great time out here but we have witnessed the cost of living spiral out of control and as exchange rates have dropped sending money back to the UK has also been far more expensive than it was a year ago.
We will miss the lifestyle, the weather (mostly), the Aussie attitude and the land itself.
Will not miss all the asians flooding in, that came as a real shock to us.
We have made some very good friends out here and will definitely keep in touch on our return.
Have booked flights but having some grief choosing an international removers. There is such a vast difference in cost and conflicting information on what size container we will need.

HI - I was interested in this, as I have just put a comment similar on the NZ page and on this....we are from UK and been in NZ for 8 yrs and although great to bring up young kids, like UK in the 70's I feel for me and my teenagers Aus would have more to offer. I miss cities and people...any people, I do like diversity and miss that from London. so was worried my post would upset ex pats in NZ but I just have not settled here but don't want to go back to the UK as kids are surf life guards and want to change the younger kids schools here anyway.
Personally I found food so much cheaper in Aus than NZ and house prices and rentals seem lower or similar but better for what you pay. I can't comment on any other bills. Job wise we have struggled here, husband been out of work for 7 mths, but we don't want to move to Auckand or Wellington. (live in Hawkes bay now - lovely part). Looking at Buderim, Queensland.
It is a hard choice to move on, especially when you have done it once. So good luck in your move.
