We are three months away from heading back to the UK after four years in South Australia.
Came out on a 457 sub class visa and have decided not to extend as my wife wants to be nearer the family.
We have had a great time out here but we have witnessed the cost of living spiral out of control and as exchange rates have dropped sending money back to the UK has also been far more expensive than it was a year ago.
We will miss the lifestyle, the weather (mostly), the Aussie attitude and the land itself.
Will not miss all the asians flooding in, that came as a real shock to us.
We have made some very good friends out here and will definitely keep in touch on our return.
Have booked flights but having some grief choosing an international removers. There is such a vast difference in cost and conflicting information on what size container we will need.

Not particularly intended to be shit stirring just a statement of fact.
The fact of the matter is that we love the country but as with most things there are downs as well as ups. The ridiculous cost of energy is definitely a down.

Well, you'll have a field-day in the UK, having your pick from the various nationalities/minorities you may choose to hate and condescend to.

The only shock is that anybody thought Australia would still be in the White Australia era, that ended mid 1970's .
Besides a map will show where Australia is placed.

Seems to be you were only here for mercenary reasons ie, the pursuit of money as all else seems to tick the boxes.
As for Asians a little research would have showed you Poland would have been a better place if that was an issue. We are in that part of the world and for better or worse will be increasingly part of the region including visible population change.
