Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted here. Life has been great the last 2 years if a little turbulant. Ups and downs of having a child but not having a steady job.

Anyway, I would like to know what I need to do to get my son a UK passport.

For background, I am a British citizen (born in the UK) and my wife is an Australian citizen (born in Aus). Our first child was born in Aus 1 month ago.
I am still on a Temporary Spouse Visa (820), though about to finalise papers/police checks for PR (801).

Hope someone can help as I've not seen a clear answer to this for mixed citizenship parents.

I believe your child is an Aussie, born of an Aussie mum, no less, so said kid shouldn't have too much trouble getting an Aussie passport if it is needed. It should also be eligilble for a UK passport via the daddy.

An Australian passport will be needed if the baby is to travel outside Australia, since Australian citizens should use an Australian passport to leave and enter Australia. Best to get a British passport too: apart from anything else, it is good proof of British citizenship.
