I spoke to someone in work who has just gone through the process and he picked up a form from his local police website (from Oz). I went online to the Avon and Somerset force website (my local police back in the UK) and downloaded a form similar to the one you posted. Same questions etc but it states you should submit copies of the identity documents, not originals and not certified copies. The cost is £10 per person. Despite not being required I will get my copies certified as we have a couple of JPs who work in our place and will sign for me at no cost. :) The other point is that form 47ES, the one I have to use for my visa application, states you need police checks from anywhere you have spent more than 12 months (including Oz) so, as someone else posted, we don't need them for Oz. :) Thanks again, |
Re: Getting PR from 457
Hi from Melbourne. This is the Victorian situation and don't know if it differs in other states. We had a letter at the weekend requiring the following: X-Ray Examination (Form 160 to be completed) for those over age 11 HIV tests for those over age 15 Medicals for all (Form 160A to be completed). We were also supposed to include previous medical reports, passports for id and previuos chest x-rays. We had to have x-rays for our 457 visa two months ago, do we have to have them done again? Also our daughter had to have a medical for the 457 visa, again two months ago so same question, does she have to have another? If you need an update after our medicals or need info on medicare, insurance, etc for 457's you might pm me? Thanks again, |

When you need certified copies it is worth searching for a JP as it is illegal for them to charge for the service. In UK you pay what, GBP 5 per page ? |

I can't see any reason why they shouldn't accept the x-rays. Probably can't be bothered to dig them out of the filing cabinets. However the meds the kids (and we) had in Australia were different than they had in the UK. Also you will all have to have blood tests done. Another point. If your ENS is the same as my RSMS the application will be front loaded.........meaning all documents are submitted to DIMIA in one go. Once the application is received they will appoint a case officer who will advise you where to get the meds and x-rays done. The doctor tells you where to get the bloods. Notice the flaw ? You don't get a case officer until the application is lodged so how can a non existent case officer tell you where to go for the meds etc ? I overcame this by emailing DIMIA giving them my 457 reference details and told them I would be applying for the RSMS so could they tell me where to go for meds etc. They did. |

We were allowed to take out ambulance cover and extras cover. |

Are you going for ENS or RSMS ? As you are in Sydney I guess it's ENS ? Either way you will need the UK police checks but none from Aus. Also full medicals, x-rays and blood tests done in Aus. |

The UK police check - does take a while but they are suppose to process it within 41 days (a legal requirement on their part). |

It's a syndrome called "can't be assed to dig those out" :D |
Re: Getting PR from 457
I have some frinds who were on a 457 and went for PR, they did not have to have repeat meds and Xrays as they were last done within the year. This was in Perth.

QUOTE] Hi How are you supposed to include previous chest xrays if you dont have them? We sent ours to DIMIA for the 457 and never got them back, that was within the year, so how can I get them back to use again for the PR, does anyone know this? As this would save us some money if we can get them back to use again.... laura x |
