Getting broadband set up quickly - Perth
Hi There,
We are arriving next Tuesday in Perth and have rented a house for 5 weeks or so, before we rent somewhere else longer term.
We need fast broadband straight away, but the rental house doesn't have it set up, although there is a phone line.
Any ideas as to the best way to deal? Should we get a Vodafone / similiar dongle and use 3g or get an ADSL box from one of the main suppliers on a longer term and take it with us when we move? Are there any places you can just walk in and get an ADSL modem?
Thanks in advance,
Marcus.

Hi Marcus.
We had a little hassle because we live in a blackspot and wanted wireless. I know it is very slow but we got dial up for around 35$ for 35 days instantly over the counter at Tandy which had us online within 1 day just to transfer money e.t.c, although it is terrible if you are used to broadband. You can get pay as you go broadband you pay a certain amount for the router e.t.c. but there were non in stock so we had to wait for that and then it would not work (google yes optus). Bear in mind if you have just arrived you will not get credit easily. A long story but we have ended up on broadband ADSL through Telstra as they were the only ones that could do what we wanted. We tried e-wire and all the others it was too complicated in our rental. Do not expect anything here in Perth straight away

iiNet will do broadband on a month-by-month basis, and you can buy the ADSL kit from them (you only get it free if you sign up for 24 months).
Cheers
