When we first moved here we had two cockroaches and they were big buggers well they got stuck upside down for some reason and left poo or piss every where.
No worse than toddlers except for the fact that the piss-puddle and poo are larger....

Yes that is very true.
Nothing worse than being able to tell what your toddler has had for dinner

Wait until you see your first scorpion running around in your house - it won't be its poo that you'll be worrying about!!

Oddly enough, my wife loves stick insects, we have some upstairs, but they are tiny (5 cm long things).

I quite like geckos though...do they bite or nip, cos im sure the kids would like them too.

Yep, they do nip and it can be hard to get them to let go too!

Had two scorpions in Singapore.

The first time, I didn't think it was one as I foolishly didn't know you get them there, but the cats were following it at a very respectful distance and it wasn't quick enough for a cockroach so I trusted their instincts and battered it to death. Even then I wasn't entirely convinced it was one as it was too bashed to be recognisable.

Having done my homework, I knew the second one was one and quickly did likewise - take no risks where my kits are concerned. I guess 2 in 6 years is not too bad but we didn't see any for 5 years and we were in that very urban house for 4 of the 6, so a bit puzzling.

These things always seemed to happen when my husband was off travelling, too.
