Default garmin sat nav

hello everyone..

this may be a stupid question..but...

i have a garmin sat nav that i bought a couple of years ago which has the maps of uk and europe on it..

can i use this in australia?? can i buy maps of australia from the garmin website..i have had a look and cant seem to find anything on the website..

or will i have to just buy a new one when i get out there??

Hi There,
We have a garmin and were able to purchase OZ maps on ebay about a month ago. They did come from eastern europecost £45 i think, but it works great. We were also out bid on a few so they are out there. hope this helps.

he quoted me €235 euro for a cd of australia that can me uploaded to my garmin...

Be careful with ebay though! We bought Oz maps for Garmin and they were counterfeit!! Cost £50. Off an Indian fella i think! Got our money back after loadsa hassle.

We got ours on e-bay also for £46.00 came from dealer in Canada

I have been quoted £160 for an sd card with oz mapping on, not sure what to do as it is a good peice of kit and not sure if i could trust ebay.

For that price you can get brand new units here in australia - wait and buy a new unit in aus with a new warranty etc. Stick that one on ebay and flog it inuk

299$ gets you a good unit like latest tomtom - or cheaper ones (4" wide screen unit in aldi at moment for 199$)

These guys are good on anything GPS and would be able to advise on pricing for Garmin maps - http://www.ja-gps.com.au
