FX £ - $ AUD This week

I was just thinking that myself. A catch 22 situation for migrants. There wont be any jobs for newcomers if this happens.
Fulltimers will probably go Parttime and Parttimers will possibly miss out.
For Australia, people need to focus on Chinas fortunes, thats where the bulk of the money for the commodities that finances this country comes from.
The local retail stores reported very high sales results this year, about 30pct up on last year in some areas, so no downward trends on the retail front thus far.
We've still got over a 1,000 homes that HAVE to be built across the road from my place here in Coburg. Plus there are two new Suburbs being built for the major housing shortage here to the North of Melbourne.

BTW it's where Chopper Reid spent his ahem Formative years, and Ned Kelly was Buried.
House builders still charging top dollar around here dammit.

Hi i am new to this site and was reading this thread and wondering how you can send money to ozforex from a bank account whilst living in an other country. My bank have told me if i transfer money from my account i will need to go into the branch in person. This could prove a little difficult whilst living in another country.
Any help much appreciated.

This is worrying me as well not. Not only are we loosing such a lot of money due to the exchange rate, we also face not being able to find work once in Oz.

I "threw may cards in" at work back in July, luckily they counter offered to keep me here on an STC. That has been extended until end March. Thing is there's a job available here that is my "ideal". Don't know whether to apply, or stick with my Oz plan. I know if I don't do the Oz move now that may be it, latest date of entry on my visa is August 2010!!!

I'm loving the shift in exchange rate
I have to move money to UK from Aus. My $ is now going further.
It was 2.6 to 1 not so long back, so now its my turn to smile

well if changing $ to £ I would be changing now as this will not last, strange things happen in the xmas break to the forex market as per my earlier post.
Limited trading by the big boys so lack of liquidity always causes a peak or trough, this time the A$ got lucky especially as commodities price have also shot up due to trouble in the gazza.
First week of full trading the £ should be back around buying 2.20 to 2.30 and then likely to gain up until mid year.
Just my predictions based on alot of reading! Of course I would love to be buying 2.6 in January but can't see it, still don't know why I didn't buy in October!? :curse:

When i first came out to oz for a look 7yrs ago now...blimey does,nt time fly...it was 3.10 dollars to the pound.
It took me 2yrs to get visa by which time it had gone down to... :curse:2.40 and that was a small window which lasted about a week....then back down to 2.20.
Afew months ago it was 2:1
What i'm saying is theres only one way the pounds been going against the dollar over that time period and thats down and all we here this side of the water is that the uk will follow usa and end up bringing interest rates close to zero.....surely this will make the pound a lot weaker in the future not stonger....?
I know its hard but i think if you see that window of opportunity ie....the other week 2.6 you should'nt wait think your self lucky and take it.
all the best plumb....

that was my theory about zero interest rates being bad for the pound but now the US dollar and Japanese Yen (which are both all at zero % interest rates - or 0.2 so as good as!) are the 2 strongest performing currencies???
the rule book seems to have been tossed aside at the mo with forex and even the big boys don't have a clue!
there's a great aussie saying "more arse than class" and I hope when I exchange I get some good luck and will settle for an "arse" exchange!
