We brought a couple of shark teeth (not fossilised, but not bleeding either) and a fossil, and some semiprecious stones... didn't even occur to me that they might bot be ok. It's not as if they could be carrying diseases.
They were fine, by the way! Have them all here, and no hideous outbreaks or midnight visits from customs.
