Re: Food n Beer
Do they have nuts in Australia ?
Chico rolls are nearly as foul as beetroot
Had a superb keeeebab last week after the Bon Jovi concert from some shop in Caxton Street. Definitely the best since leaving Brighton, and it would've past muster with us back home too, absolutely gorgeous!

Packaged food I will agree with you is not that great, but then it never was very popular here, I am sure it is only on the shelves due to the 'increased' demand for it these days.
Some years ago the main complaint was that packaged food just didn't exist here, everything was fresh and needed cooking... A chefs nightmare...

Um, sorry to break it to you but doner kebabs are not British. They actually are middle eastern. It makes me laugh when I see things like "British kebab" or "good old English curry". FFS curry is from the subcontinent, not UK.

You know what, if Australians got this "Un-Australian to complain" thing out of their head then maybe things would actually improve here and everybody wouldn't be ripped off for sub-standard goods everywhere they go.
There's a massive "head in the sand, Aussie is the best country in the world" mentality in this country which is really holding progress back.
Australia has a lot of things which need to be improved, moved forward, and it's actually ok to "complain" and speak up, because this is how things progress.

Re: Food n Beer
I think the food here is better than UK...and the beer is comparable if you pick the right ones and avoid the shite...
I can't wait to visit the OPs hotel where he's a chef and have some of his gourmet food
