Flying tips
#1
Just had a look on the web and found this site http://www.seatexpert.com/
and it gives an indication of which seats are good and which are bad on different aircraft.
What do others think on seat position?
If you are flying for over 20hrs you don't want to be in a bad position-especially if you have kids.
We are flying to Brisbane on the 3rd of April-what tips do people have for making the flight comfortable?
I have bought some of those disposable finger tooth brush things today which seemed like a good idea.
Come on guys lets see your tips

Take some bottles of water - you need to drinks lots on the flight. It is always good to have spare.
Wear layers (clothing) because you never know whether the aircon will be really cold or whether you'll be hot in the plane. At least with layers you can always take off clothes when you start getting hot. Most importantly you must wear comfortable clothing.

Lot's of water is a good thing as I always dehydrate on planes. How about sleeping patterns, our flight is at 10.40PM so we should be able to sleep for the first few hours Ok.

If its just the two of you and you're not bothered about having a window seat, go for two together (one aisle seat) in the middle of the plane - that way you wont have people climbing over you to go to the loo - and you wont have to do the same to anyone else. Or you could go for two seats right at the back of the plane where it narrows so you have a window seat and nobody next to you. The good/bad thing about those seats is that you're close to the toilet, but you'll have people constantly standing next to you!
I always forget my ear plugs and one of those inflatable pillows that fit around your neck, so i always have jet lag and a sore neck, so that could be something to consider.

We set our watches to singapore time and then to Oz time when we got to singapore. Try and then be awake / asleep to that time so that your body adjusts to the time zone you are travelling to.
Drink loads of water, no alcohol, no caffeine.
Take sweets, felt tips, colouring stuff, maybe diaries for the kids to write/colour/scribble on.
(our kids were 5,7 and 9 when we went and we just let them get on with it, made sure they drank plenty of water but other than that just let them entertain themselves)
We went Singapore air - may not be cheapest but you're taking a 24 hour flight. They were brilliant - great with the kids, get you anything anytime, all free, screens in back of headrests with 20 films etc. available on demand i.e. you decide to watch film, press button, film starts.

I like the idea of setting the watch for OZ time and although we are not taking the kids this time we will when we go permanantly-they just keep following us
Ours will be 7 and 9 so packs of felt tips sound good although I may wake up with a fake moustache if I don't watch out.

We're flying through LA, leaving at 11:30 p.m. Thought we would put the kids in PJ's before we boarded and let them be comfortable. For sure lots of water and no alcohol or caffeine.
Enjoy the flight.
Enjoy the flight.

I tell a lie, my son (who's nearly 10) got a little teddy bear
Most of the planes now have the seat back TV's/video games, but once again the time we told him he wouldn't need his game-boy we didnt have them and he was too short to see the big TV screen over the seat in front - 24hrs of misery :scared: Thanks BA/Qantas
We always take something we know our son will eat too - a packet of pringles and some grapes, just so he has something to eat - it gets him through the 24hrs of airline food he wont touch. Just remember to ditch any uneaten fruit before you arrive in Australia, or you'll be in big trouble
