Does anyone know if Cathay Pacific operate a similar deal to SingaporeAir in offering additional luggage allowance for migration ?

Also whether we would be allowed to take a carseat in the hold with out it counting towards our weight allowance ?

We flew two years ago with Cathay, when we migrated and although our travel agents (Travelbag) told us we were not entitled to the 40kgs allowance, I rang Cathay directly - they were great - and all you have to do is (obviously!) show them your passport - the permanaent residency sticker and they will give you the 40kgs each - dunno about the carseat though - I know you can take it on board if you have paid for a seat for your nipper but I think otherwise it'll be classed a part of your baggage, so you'll have to either factor it into your 40kgs / 80kgs/whatever or pay excess baggage for it.

How old is your nipper? Our lad is 2, and we are not bothering with his carseat. You cant use it on the other end as Australian regulations for car seats are different. Its a long flight to have them confined to a car seat, and you will have to carry is around when you are in transit in Hong Kong.
