Flies
Coming out next week for the first time just wondered how bad will the flies be going to Melbourne and Perth.
Any ideas how to keep them away.. can't stand the things :sneaky: |
Re: Flies
The flies are just starting to come back. They've just started to annoy me. Unfortunately it's going to get worse.
In summer we get loads of flies although the amount can vary over quite small distances. The coast generally seems to be worse than inland. I found them quite bad on the Great Ocean Road. On the Mornington Peninsula they are worse on the bay side than they are on the Westernport side. (The mozzies seem to be the other way inclined.) Best way of keeping them off is a net that goes over your hat. You can get these from Ray's Outdoors, Aussie Disposals (or any Disposals) or Aussie Geographic to name a few. Aeroguard is the chemical solution. Don't bother with the instructions that say "spray it into your hand and rub it on your face". Hold your breath and just spray it on - liberally. Apparently Aeroguard was developed by the CSIRO for one of the Queen's visits. Hope this helps - even if it's not what you might want to hear. :) |

We are in WA. I've been chomped on this week. I am not normally into taking stuff but these were big buggers and too many to just not scratch. Took an antihistamine and that was enough to take away the irritation and for them to heal up

Re: Flies
I'm up north west, working on an island and the flies are a nightmare.
I was one very sweaty grumpy Scotsman this morning, with flies buzzing around me, and the sun bearing down... |
