I really don't see how a bunch of Schoolkids fishing is that unusual in any country.

Grayling, I can see where your coming from. Unfortunatley sometimes it takes a big move for you to open your eyes and see things. Its good though that you mention this to keep things in perspective.

I used to do a lot of fishing i my youth. We had course fishing lakes near my village and I went most weekends. I loved it. My school had no outside activities so seeing what they do here is new to me. My g/f used to have surfing lessons here when she was a nipper!

I think you are right.

Strange isn't it?

Best wishes

whilst I'm on, just like to see its not just the Aussie kids that are gifted and spoilt; when I was a nipper we were taking to the local poo - (the 'l' had dropped off the sign) and given swimming lessons . How good was that. All in school time too.

I am coaching a young lad in Fly fishing who is now competing on a national level. Right here in Good old Blighty.

Totally agree with you, I do find it odd why people can not see what is actually under their noses in the UK.
I learnt to fish in the Uk not here, and spent as much time fishing there as I do here, which is a lot. ( I don't fly fish, or "coarse fish".. I've always been a salt water fisho, but my husband used to be a very keen fly fisherman in the UK in the rivers for trout etc, besides sea angling ) .
I never fancy fresh water fishing myself , I've tried it here in the lakes, ( bait fishing, worms) and caught a few fish, yellow belly, Au bass etc , but I don't find it as exciting as sea fishing , the unknown.. you always know what your likely to catch in the lakes/damns here , but not at sea.

Talked to hubby last night on phone , and he's caught a further 3 Barra.. one apparently went to 1 metre, can't say that I'm jealous, that dosen't like fun to me, Barra fishing (there again I've never caught one) . Give me sharks and Jew (mulloway) fishing anyday.
