Default Finding places to rent in Melbourne

I'm moving down to Melbourne (by car) from Brissy in a little under two weeks and I haven't had any luck finding long term accommodation at an affordable rate (i.e., max 260/wk bills included/furnished-share housing optional/rent/zone 1 area yet. I've been looking and contacting people via email for almost three weeks now and no bite. Other than realestate.com.au or gumtree or domain.com.au, what other good websites or agents are out there?? :/

Thanks

The rental market in Melbourne has been very tight for a very long time now.

If you are not going to be here for another 2 weeks, personally you will find they aren't going to be interested. You need to be here, line up with the rest looking for a rental, and hope you get lucky.

You might find something on gumtree through a private rental, but going through a real estate agent will be a waste of time. Also $260 inc bills & furnished is cheap.

Hopefully somebody else can give some more detailed advice on where to look. good luck.

I too cannot help you your budget is quite low especially including services and furniture. A one bedroom unfurnished costs $300 plus a week anywhere within striking distance of the CBD. My friend's daughter pays $360 a week in Richmond.

Best to wait till you get here and scour the papers and Domain.com.au and some of the share rental sites. Saturday's Age usually has a lot of share adverts in it.
