Thumbs up Fibre optic work in Perth

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me, myself, my partner and our son will be making the move to Perth in mid to late April this year once I've finished my 22 years service with the British Army. Does anyone know any good Fibre optic installation companies within the Perth area? I just need some ideas as to where I can fire my CV off to.
Many thanks

Brendan

Look up NBN and see who is cabling your area.

NBN hire other companies to do the cabling. See who has the contract in your area. Another option is to look at electrical companies such a iPower who also do data cabling and other work.

www.visionstream.com.au are headquartered in Melbourne but do work all over the place including Perth. One of their streams is fibre optics and they are involved in NBN.

Also Telstra, obviously - at one time VisionStream were a subsidiary.

Plenty of work installing FO on minesites during construction. Everything we design now involves FO and we lay shitloads of the stuff.

If he is qualified and experienced and can work with control and comms systems, then the salary can be very good - $125k to whatever. Remember though that the work can be tough, as is the environment, hours are long - as is the time spent away from home. Saying that, mine camps are now very pleasant places to stay and the food is good. Some of the newer camps are like resorts - and I'm not joking.

Brendan-Amy;

you shall need a fibre optic license mate before your allowed to do any work for any company, so have a look at the local Tafe (College) in the area you intend to live in & do there 3 day course for the full fibre optic license then you can apply for work in your own field

Cheers mate I didn't know that, I'll look into it. My mum works at UWA in Perth so I'll see what she can find out for me.

Appreciated

Brendan
