A new member of my team from UK is here on a 457. Their partner needs a WA driving licence for his work. When he rocked up to WA licensing they would't accept his "proof" as they since changed the rules in Sept 11

(licenisng) wouldn;t accept the accompanying paperwork they had with their electronic 457

Just wondered if anyone has negotiated this bueracratic challenge successfully and if so how?

I reckon they'll need to go to their local DIAC office and get a sticker put in their passport. It can be done for a temp electronic visa and it has to be done if travelling to some countries any way.

They can check the visa status online, my cousin is in WA on a WHV (no label in passport) and just got his WA Licence no problem.

It's where employers, medicare, agencies check someones visa status with no label
