kept as pets become overweight because the owners overfeed them and they don't get enough exercise. l remember seeing one pet Wombat that was so fat that it could no longer walk and the owners had to push it around everywhere in a wheel burrow.

I woke up this morning thinking about this thread (really, I should get a life shouldn't I...) what about Bilbies, Thorny Devils, Echidnas and Bob Tailed Lizards. We rescued a bob tailed lizard from the road when we first got here and they are pretty cool. Hubby pulled a tick of one a few weeks ago when he was out East. What I find really interesting is the distribution of the animals; here in WA we don't have Koalas, Playtipii, Wombats etc. in the wild.

Here's a Bilby pic and a link to info about them, apparently they are endangered. I didn't know they were bandicoots.

Ahhhh, this is cute, it's a Numbat and is only found in a small area of forest in WA.

If anyone is good at avatars... hint hint!

Yep! I think there's a few wombats on the Nullabor plain, but that's soooo far from Perth!

Yep, Numbats are I believe the WA fauna symbol?

There's a warning sign for Bandicoots near my work, it's near the Roe Highway. Never seen one though.
Where we stayed near Albany there's lots of Bandicoots too, next time we'll go spotting!
Btw, I didn't know bilbies were bandicoots either!

Re: Bunyip. I was convinced when I was about 12 there was one living in the bushes near our house in Bridgetown, cos I couldn't think of what else was making the wierd noise... now I've realised it was an owl...

p.s. can't name a favourite animal.... too hard
