Could anyone let me know the fastest and most reliable way of transferring sterling to Australia, looking to send approx $5k and need it here by this Friday!

You've not left a lot of time as they are really strict checks for money laundering just lately

Tranzfers will do it that quickly if you hit the buttons tomorrow - but safest bet is a wire transfer through a bank branch. Or just do a cash-advance from a UK credit card or UK Visa card etc - go into a bank with Passport/Drivers LIcence and the car dand ask for a cash advance. they charge a fee like 1% or something for cash advance but its instant.

I typed them but didn't know if they did it without all the ID stuff

CHAPS it to a broker today. Be there Wednesday. They transfer same day. Recognised in Australia Thursday pm or probably Fri am.
