Default family sponsor

Hi

I asked this question last week but got no replies. Can anyone help? My sister is sponsoring myself and family on a 138 visa her husband will be the assurer coz he earns more money. The question is can my sister also sponsor my brother who is also thinking of applying or does he have to wait 2 years until I am able to sponsor him.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

thanks Jayne

THINK its allowed to sponsor 2 people at once, but would suggest you PM jaj or Alan to double check.

You can sponsor more than 2 people at the same time *provided* you can demonstrate to DIMIA you can meet multiple sponsorship obligations. Form 40 gives an idea of what these obligations are - get professional advice if unclear.

There are specific restrictions on multiple sponsorships for spouse and remaining relative visas.

However, you *cannot* act as assurer over more than 2 adults at the same time. Assurances of support are now being dealt with by Centrelink, so keep in touch with the rules as they may evolve.
