I am not exactly sure what other changes happened when they brought in the Dental Voucher plan.
Some reports have said that some of the dental van services have now been cancelled. These cancellations may only be for High Schools though.
One quote from a Cairns newspaper is:
When my daughter was at Primary, I recall that the dental van service only checked the teeth, and then referred other work to the local dentists.
The QLD health web page on this, at http://www.health.qld.gov.au/southside/oralqeii.asp was last reviewed over a year ago on 24 January 2008.

We get FTB A & B but only get the Teen Voucher for my daughter, which is for up to $150 per year, for my son, there is nothing.
They have had their teeth checked at school once but if they recommend any work, you have to go to your own dentist and pay as normal there. Not sure if that is the same for all states.
Dental care strikes me as very expensive here in Oz and I was astonished to find out yesterday that I have to pay towards my 2 yearly cervical screening test, I can't find a doctor that bulk bills (it's really hard to get a GP at all here, thought I had found one that bulk bills but was sadly mistaken) and I've also got to pay for the path lab fees. As cervical cancer screening is a national program, I think it needs to be offered completely free otherwise the uptake will never be optimum, ironically the GPs get offered a financial service if they enlist a woman who has not had scrrening in the previous 5 years

Hi,
We are in Queensland on a 457 visa and my youngest has just had quite a lot of work done at the school dental van. filling and an extraction (yes I know, I am a shit parent).
It didn't cost us anything though.

The dental voucher gives them $150 worth of treatment, and the check up alone almost comes to that.
We have always had to pay for kids dental...............Jakes teeth cost us almost $3000 last year (wisdom teeth trouble)
