Default Fairly young & single guy moving to perth

Hi Guys

I've been given a job offer in Perth and am thinking of moving from Scotland in February time.
No kids and partner but i would want at least a 2 bed house/flat for having family & friends over to visit. Would prefer a house really.
Outdoorsy type of guy. Big in snowboarding so looks like I'll be surfing and wakeboarding instead. Obviously reasonably close to the beach and the nightlife. I'm 32 so I'm not looking for a student scene or something like that.
My place of work will be in Malaga and don't want to have too much of a commute from there. Half an hour maybe.
My salary should be 100k -120k.
Does that help with with where I could find a decent place to live?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

HI there and welcome to the forum.

Sorry but I've only just spotted this thread. Maybe it's been in hiding somewhere.

Can't help with Perth I'm afraid but hopefully someone will be along to help soonish.

Enjoy B.E.

Have a look at Scarborough. At the top of my head I don't know how far that it is from Malaga. If you didn't need to be near the beaches or too near Malaga then I would be suggesting Leederville or Mount Lawley for a young single guy.Good luck with your search.

Thanks for that. Scarborough is one I've looked at and it's close enough of a commute.

It has the beach, cafes and some shops. You would be better off renting somewhere short term and then drive round.Suburbs like Innaloo and Doubleview are close by.

Stay in a backpackers for a while, you'll have loads of people to socialise with, plenty are located in the CBD, Malaga isn't far although you'll need a car. I spent 6 months at Coolabah lodge in Northbridge, it was great when I first came here. You'll then be able to leisurely find a good place to live without any hassles. Good areas for young people are those surrounding the city and West along the Fremantle line all the way to Freo. It's a great place for a young single guy contrary to what's said on here, because of the FIFO work a lot of the 20 something blokes do here the place is jammed full of extremely pretty girls and not much competition. Enjoy, I did the same 7 years ago, now i'm married to an Aussie, you never know what might happen.

You WILL need a car from day one. malaga is a commercial/industrial zone well away from where you will want to stay and you really don't want to be getting on/off buses

Agree with others to head for Scarborough as it's got a small shopping centre, public transport, lots of rental options and backpackers, cafes, etc. It's 2 intersections north along West Coast Highway up to Reid Highway, 3 to Beach Road, which would be the most direct routes for driving to Malaga. Like others mentioned, I'd also look at Leederville and Mt Lawley, and add in Mt Hawthorn, North Perth and Subiaco.

This.

I live in Scarborough and it is 20 - 25 minutes drive to Malaga. How much is your budget for rent? Check out realestate.com.au for indicative rental prices.
