He has always wanted to move back as he used to live there a few years ago and his company have agreed to his relocation.
It is logical for us to live closer to him so that is the plan.
Not sure where we will settle yet

Does get a bit mental in the summer hols, though we're in one of the biggest summer destinations for Sydney-siders here, rather than the rush to the Gold Coast. Though, having driven up and down the Princes Highway right through an Oz summer, I wouldn't say it was even remotely as bad as, say, the A30 into Cornwall in the summer, even though that road, being partially single-carriage, has a lot in common with my local highway.

We plan to tour the northern NSW coast and Queensland. Both to check out somewhere to live and maybe find a job
Has anyone done this and how practical is this during the summer?
I do not want to plan stops too far in advance but am aware that it will be them school holidays. Will this create difficulties?
No doubt we will spend Xmas in Brisbane but have an open mind about the rest.

I've only ever driven south of Sydney once and that was on the way to Melbourne via Mallacoota.
I was a bit more concerned about the accomodation than the roads as I have driven the whole of the East coast (as far as Cape Tribulation) in the past.
We will just have to pick our times and avoid the Holiday periods.
As we are also looking for somewhere to settle, we will probably spend some time away from the Holiday areas if practical.
