Exporting Pets/ Ticks/ Erlichia canis test in dogs
Hope this helps others.
Our dog Pebbles failed at a titer of 40 this is borderline (the test looks for antibodies and does not indicate your dog has the disease or is a carrier) as the requirements for Australia are a negative test at a dilution of 1 in 40. The requirements for New Zealand are 1 in 20 dilution according to the VLA. Even the laboratory recommended a retest. We are giving tetracycline antibiotics as a precautionary measure and crossing fingers. Pebbles has never been out of the UK although she picked up a couple of ticks which were removed last June. Get your dogs tested early if there has been any contact to avoid heartache at the last minute. Good Luck to everyone try to export pets.

Good news Pebbles passed on the retest after waiting one day between results and testing again. Good luck to all those wishing to export pets, let me know how you get on.

We used Overhill Kennels near Bristol, we found them on the web and they have over 40 years inporting and exporting, we also visited them before finalising everything. They were very organised handled all the paperwork told us exactly what was required from our vet and followed everything up as well as being very calm throughout the process. I would thoroughly recommend them.
Best Wishes
