Most of the biggest British construction firms seem to use the time-honoured method of forcing the buyer into unreasonable contracts, deliberately dragging out the construction period, hiking up the cost by suddenly "discovering" that the cost of the project had been "underestimated", and handing over a final (multi-million pound) bill to recoup what would otherwise have been a catastrophic loss. (Thus and thus.)
Multiplex should have paid closer attention to this practice, and followed suit.

I seem to remember listening to the news which said that the amount that Multiplex would have to pay to the FA is capped to a certain amount. Isn't this the first time Multiplex have made a loss on a construction contract?

I think it's bloody fantastic that an Aussie company has been chosen to build a replacement for England's most famous football stadium.
Just think of all that British money rolling into Australia, oh yes...

Ironically, a few weeks ago there was also a collapsed beam in the new Scottish parliament building which was completed many years late at 10 times the original quote (not Multiplex).
