Default Experience of Mandurah

Hi,

we have been checking out the rentals in Mandurah and Halls Head, Lakelands and Dudley Park come up time and again.

Does anyone have any experience of any of these areas or does anyone on this board actually live there? Are any of these places any good or are there better areas to be in? I have checked back on the board using the search feature but there was nothing that was what I was after.

We are looking for the best/nicest area to stay and rent in for 2 years. It will either be just OH and myself or OH, myself and 2 teenagers if that is any help?!

Thanks for your advice!

Hi,

my choice would be Meadow Springs. It is an established, newish, well maintained suburb. It has a new shopping Centre with Coles and Traget, is very close to the beach and close to all the other things that might come handy such as Bunnings (huge hardware store), furniture shops, electrical etc which are at the intersection Fremantle Road and Mandurah Terrace.

The large shopping centre is at the intersection of Mandurah Road and Pinjarra Road. The train station is just before the shopping centre along Fremantle Road. From here you can get to Perth in about hour hopefully in August 07.

Lakelands will be a construction site for many years to come.

Cheers

Hi, in my opinion steer clear of Dudley park...Yes Meadow Springs and if you get into the first stage of Lakelands you should be fine as most of the houses are built. Suzette.

Hi All,

We are also hoping to move to Mandurah in June this year and any idea regarding the suburbs or locations most welcomed.

Besides the ones mentioned, any thoughts about Greenfields, which appears to be close to Mandurah Senior College or Challenger Tafe for my son. Is this a safe place..

Any idea about rent in Meadow Springs which also seems close to Tafe.... We aim at looking for a quiet area and not necessarily close to the beach accommodatioon. Can be flats or so.

I live there ! I'd avoid Dudley Park and Greenfields but the rest is down to personal preference. If you can stand mossies there's Erskine across from Halls Head. We love Halls Head so are biased on that suburb !

Lakelands and Meadow Springs are practically identical with the exception that Lakelands is a couple of years behind. Rows of houses on small plots, few trees, lots of sand and wrong side of the Fremantle Road for most things. You will be driving a lot ! On saying that, a lot of people like those suburbs so it is all down to personal taste.

However, I would say that if it is just you and OH you will find it very quiet here as it is very family orientated.
